Greatly Decrease Dependency
on Reading Glasses
Horsley Eye Center offers ‘Near Vision’ CK treatment
The Sheth-Horsley Eye Center physicians, Drs. Will Horsley and Nilesh M. Sheth use a new radio frequency treatment, Conductive Keratoplasty or CK to greatly decrease dependency on reading glasses in people over 40.
This condition, known as Presbyopia, is the normal and progressive loss of what’s known as “near vision.” This is not a laser treatment. There is no cutting or removal of tissue with CK.

Using a fine tip thinner than a strand of human hair, CK applies radio waves in a circular pattern on the outer cornea to shrink small areas of collagen. This shrinkage pattern creates a constrictive band (like the tightening of a belt), increasing the overall curvature of the cornea to bring near vision back into focus for ‘Baby Boomers’ who are now presbyopic.
People with this condition often have trouble with a range of close viewing situations such as seeing their dinner plates, computer monitors, shaving, applying make up, seeing buttons on remote control devices or cell phone, and checking thermostats. These are ‘middle vision tasks’ that most take for granted. At some point, usually in the late 40s and early 50s, people start needing reading glasses or turning up the lights not only for reading but also for middle vision tasks.
CK can turn back the hands of time by greatly reducing dependency on reading glasses. That is, short-term reading tasks can be dramatically improved with CK – reading menus, the TV guide or a newspaper.
CK is a fast, safe, and painless office procedure that has the best safety profile of any eye procedure, and is the first FDA-approved technology for presbyopia. CK also can be performed after cataract or LASIK surgery.
It should be noted that all refractive surgeries are considered to be cosmetic by insurances, so few will pay for them. But they are qualified for tax deductions and medical savings plans, and can be financed.
The Sheth-Horsley Eye Center is located at 3 Woodland Road, Suite 120 in Stoneham, 781-979-0960.

Nilesh M. Sheth, MD of the Sheth-Horsley Eye Center has extensive experience with the new CK radio wave treatment to improve reading ability in aging eyes.
